Soooo this morning was immensely eventful!! Crazy hahaa. We get dropped off and Dave Malkoff from CBS2 News (and KCal9 I see later) asks to interview us about our opinions on increased cancellations of international flights. My dad gives his opinion and I figure he'd appreciate a picture of him being interviewed later so I break out my camera, but then Dave asks to interview me so then I put it away haha. I give him my short schpeel and am willing to say more but whatever I said was enough for like a 10 second quality snippet (I'm assuming).
The questions was about our knowledge of international flights being canceled and the impact and whether we travel internationally often. I talked about demand and how the less available airlines there are, the more they could charge. I also spoke about how traveling as a student means traveling whenever I can, which is when there aren't classes and how I can travel on student discounts so more flights canceled = less airlines available = taking away the possible leisures of student budget and student traveling.
SOOO literally right after we're interviewed, we find out that OUR PARENTS' FLIGHT IS CANCELED!!! They didn't inform us. Today's flight to Paris is canceled but they have one tomorrow, so our parents would have to leave tomorrow...wtf?! Angelica and I were on a separate airline because at the time, I booked us first via phone and did my parents after. So Angelica and I are flying Air Tahiti and our parents were supposed to be Lufthansa (that German one). Luckily, we got to LAX INCREDIBLY EARLY (try about 4:30am for their 8:00 flight) so they were able to catch the 6am flight to Paris...or else they would have to leave tomorrow, meaning everything would be messed up since we booked and reserved our seats for the train to Prague and everything already!
Anywhoo, this is long but I promise I'm almost finished. Angelica and I walk back the ridiculous distance from Terminal 7 to 3 to get to our spot and we're eating when Chip Yost from KTLA asks to interview us! HAHAHA I guess this is one of the stories they're going to show today (or tonight).
So anyway, Angelica doesn't want to be on camera but of course I agree. Yes, we travel as much as we can and we're fortunate to be able to go out and get the open-minded experience of traveling. I tell him that we actually JUST experienced first hand a canceled international flight for my parents. I also give him my opinion on the impact and say not only about rising prices because of more demand and less supply but also how socio and economic factors and concerns go hand in hand; that no one likes being left in the dark and having to worry about whether their flight will still be good to go and have to handle that responsibility of checking back and forth when all they want to do is get on the plane and sleep.

I told him that I was surprised by how many options were available for flying to Paris when I booked, but what really matters is whether those flights will still end up being good. I spoke a lot but you get the picture, and when they left, I heard them saying, "That was good. I think that's it. That's all we're gonna need." Scoreeeeee!!
The guy zoomed up on my face so much you'll probably see my islands (aka my pimples hahaha) but oh well, at least my teeth are white!!
